Church School (Pre-K through Grade 5)Weaving God's Promises
Weaving God's Promises is a three-year Christian education program for children ages 3 (Preschool) through fifth grade. Weaving God's Promises was developed and written exclusively for the Episcopal Church by the Rev. Canon Joanna Leiserson, formerly the Canon for Christian Formation at Christ Church Cathedral and currently our interim priest for St. Anne.
The goal of Weaving God's Promises is to teach children the way of Christ, not only in the church but also in the world, and to give them a solid grounding for future youth formation programs. The great stories of the Old and New Testaments are the core of the lessons, with special emphasis on the life and teachings of Jesus. The curriculum also includes information about church history, seasons of the Church year, church practices, use of The Book of Common Prayer, our Anglican and Episcopal tradition, and the principal sacraments of our Church: Holy Baptism and Holy Eucharist. This curriculum provides something for every learning style with various activities including arts, crafts, drama, pencil/paper activities, games, storytelling, and more! Each week lessons will connect with the Episcopal Church's Revised Common Lectionary as heard weekly in worship services. The stories and lessons will relate what to what is read in Sunday services prompting great weekly discussions and reflections between students and parents.
Meeting Time: Sundays during the school year from 9:45 – 10:30
