Pre-k through Kindergarten (typically three, four, and five year olds):
We are excited to offer Weaving God's Promises for children ages 3 through Kindergarten. Weaving God's Promises is a new curriculum that is Episcopalian at its core, biblically sound, and liturgically oriented. The curriculum follows the Church year by focusing on lessons from the liturgial calendar as well as the Old and New Testament. Children learn God's work in a lively environment using a variety of teaching methods including theme-reinforcing crafts, drama, movement, games, storytelling, science and more! Like our other elementary classes, lessons learned in this program will often follow the Scripture readings of our Sunday worship services allowing families the opportunity to connect classrooom lessons with readings heard in church. Lessons also connect to the seasons of the church year, with Episcopal prayers, history, sacraments and traditions woven throughout the materials each week. (Three, four and five-year-olds may also attend our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program.)
First Grade through Sixth Grades:
We also offer Weaving God's Promises for our First through Sixth Grade children. The children will engage in age-appropriate activities that help deepen their connections to the rhythms of the Church year, the riches of Sunday liturgy, to each other, and to God. Children will explore our Episcopal religion in grade-leveled classrooms. The great stories of the Old and New Testaments are the core of the lessons with special emphasis on the life and teachngs of Jesus. This curriculum also includes information about church history, seasons of the Church year, use of The Book of Common Prayer, our Anglican and Episcopal tradition, the principal sacraments of our Church, Holy Baptism, and Holy Eucharist. The stories that will be read and the lessons that will be taught will often relate to what is being read in Sunday services prompting great weekly discussions and reflections between students and parents. Children will explore Bible stories and verses that they can understand and connect to everyday situations.
New students are welcome to join at any time of the year.
